The concept of combining indoor and outdoor space in terms of a visual experience was maintained throughout the kitchen and dining area, culminating in the design of the central island counter. Recycled wine bottles and concrete are used to create this unique countertop, where colors of the reflective glass provide a subtle multi-colored glow under a beam of light from the garden beyond. Standing at the end of the island, the river rock "creek" splitting the countertop appears to continue into the garden, to the exact location planned for a new outdoor water feature.
